Earl Grey is most commonly known as black tea flavored with the bergamot oil, which gives it a very unique taste. Bergamot oil is derived from the rind of a fruit called the bergamot orange, that is commonly grown in Calabria (Italy) and parts of France.

Since this type of tea was never registered by its 'creators', its recipe varies. Some manufacturers use black teas from different suppliers around the world, others modify the drying process, and some others use different flavoring.
